Vote to pass a bill that authorizes waivers received by open-enrollment charter school to be granted to public school districts.

Highlights:

• Authorizes a school district board of directors to petition the State Board of Education for any number of the waivers granted to an open-enrollment charter school that draws students from the same school district (Sec. 1).
• Requires any petition submitted by a school district board of directors to include the following criteria (Sec. 1):
• A name of the open-enrollment public charter school that draws students from within the same school district;
• A copy of the waivers granted to the open-enrollment charter school; and
• A list of the waivers that the school district seeks to have granted.
• Specifies that the State Board of Education has 90 days from the date a petition is received to grant or deny the petition (Sec. 1).
• Specifies that a waiver granted by the State Board of Education to a public school is valid for the duration that the waiver was valid for the open-enrollment charter school (Sec. 1).
