Vote to pass a bill that requires a physician to examine a patient in person before prescribing or administering abortion-inducing medication.

Highlights:

• Requires a physician to examine a patient in person before giving, selling, dispensing, administering, prescribing, or providing abortion-inducing medication to determine that the medication is “sufficiently safe” for use (Sec. 2).

• Requires a physician to have the ability to provide surgical intervention in cases of incomplete abortion or severe bleeding, or to make and document plans in the patient’s medical record to provide such emergency care through other qualified physicians who have agreed to provide it (Sec. 2).

• Requires the physician inducing the abortion, or an individual acting on behalf of the physician, to make “reasonable efforts” to ensure that the patient returns for a follow-up visit (Sec. 2).
