Vote to pass a bill that amends the exemption procedure for compulsory immunizations, effective 90 days after passage.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes the Commissioner of the Bureau for Public Health to grant, renew, condition, deny, suspend, or revoke exemptions to the compulsory immunization requirements upon “sufficient” medical evidence that the immunization is inadvisable or there is a specific precaution to a particular vaccine (Art. 3). 
  • Requires that a request for an exemption to the compulsory immunization requirements is accompanied by the certification of a licensed physician stating that the physical condition of the individual is such that the immunization is inadvisable or there is a specific precaution to a particular vaccine (Art. 3). 
  • Expands the compulsory immunization requirements for an individual entering a school or state-regulated child care center to include immunizations against the following diseases (Art. 3):
    • Chickenpox;
    • Hepatitis-b;
    • Measles;
    • Meningitis; and
    • Mumps.
