Vote to pass a bill that prohibits employers from requiring employees to join or pay unions.

Highlights:

• Prohibits an employer from requiring any of the following as conditions of employment (Sec. 5):
• Joining or remaining in a labor organization;
• Refraining from joining or remaining in a labor organization;
• Paying any dues or other charges to a labor organization; or
• Paying a third party an amount that is in place of dues or charges required by a labor organization.
• Prohibits an employer from deducting employee earnings to pay for any dues or assessments of a labor organization unless ordered to do so by the employee (Sec. 9).
• Specifies that the provisions of this bill affect only contracts which are created, extended, or renewed after the passage of this bill (Sec. 13).
• Classifies a violation of the provisions of this bill as a Class A misdemeanor (Sec. 12).
