Title: Amends Aggravated Assault Classifications

Vote to pass a bill that amends the definition of aggravated assault.

  • Expands the definition of aggravated assault to include an individual who takes, or attempts to control, another individual’s firearm with intent to cause harm without “justification” (Sec. 1).
  • Exempts the following individuals from the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1):
    • Any peace officer who is engaged in the lawful execution of official duties; and
    • Any individual who is “justified” in using physical or deadly force.
