Title: 2015-2017 Biennium Budget

Vote to adopt a conference report that passes a bill that appropriates funds for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 fiscal years.

Highlights:

  • Establishes the Charter and Innovation Network School Grant Program to make an annual grant to a school and the Charter and Innovation School Advance Program to make advances to a school that meets certain conditions, including, but not limited to, the following conditions (Secs. 162 & 232):
    • The charter school was placed in a “C” or better category of performance for the most recently completed school year;
    • The charter school is in its first or second year of operation; or 
    • The charter school does not receive a category of performance for the most recently completed school year.
  • Specifies that the annual grant amount for a school under the Charter and Innovation Network School Grant Program is $500 per student counted in the current ADM of the school (Sec. 162). 
  • Prohibits the state from advancing more than $50 million to schools under the charter and innovation school advance program in the fiscal years 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 (Sec. 232). 
  • Establishes a tax credit for teachers to be the lesser of the following amounts (Sec. 82):
    • The amount of $100; or
    • The total amount spent for classroom supplies during a taxable year.
