Title: Increases Salaries of Elected Officials

Vote to pass a bill that increases the salaries of certain elected officials.

Highlights:

  • Increases the annual salaries of elected members of the Senate and the House of Representatives to $60,583.70 (Sec. 1).
  • Increases the annual salaries of certain elected officials within the Senate and the House of Representatives and includes, but is not limited to, the following amounts (Sec. 1):
    • $94, 437.36 for the president of the Senate and the speaker of the House; 
    • $86,164.76 for the Senate president pro tempore, the House speaker pro tempore, and the Senate and House minority leader; and  
    • $81,163.21 for the Senate and House majority floor leader.
  • Increases the annual salaries of the secretary of state, auditor of state, treasurer of state, and attorney general to $109.985.92 (Sec.1).
  • Authorizes for annual salaries to be increased each year from 2017 to 2023 by the lesser of 3 percent or the annual percentage increase of the consumer price index for the following elected officials (Sec.1):
    • The elected members of the Senate and the House of Representatives; 
    • The governor and the lieutenant governor; 
    • The secretary of state, the auditor of state and the treasurer of state; and
    • The attorney general.
  • Increases the annual salaries of justices and judges, effective January 1, 2014, and includes, but is not limited to, the following amounts (Sec.1):
    • $150,850 for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court; 
    • $141,600 for the Justices of the Supreme Court; and
    • $132,000 for the Judges of the Court of Appeals.
  • Increases the annual salaries of justices and judges by 5 percent each year from 2015-2018, effective January 1, 2015 (Sec. 1).
  • Increases the annual salaries of county elected officials from 2017 and each calendar year thereafter by the lesser of 3 percent or the percentage increase of the consumer price index (Sec. 1).
  • Establishes the Ohio Public Officials Compensation Advisory Commission to recommend the salaries of all state and local officials  after the expiration of automatic pay increases (Sec. 1).
