Highlights:

• Prohibits an individual in kindergarten or grades 1 to 3 from being suspended due to an act of “willful defiance” (Sec. 1). 

• Prohibits individuals in kindergarten or grades 1 to 12 from being recommended for expulsion due to an act of “willful defiance” (Sec. 1).    
• Defines “willful defiance” as defying the valid authority of school officials in the performance of their duties (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the willful defiance provision of this bill will become inactive on July 1, 2018, unless the legislature establishes an additional statute that extends or deletes this date (Sec. 1).
