Vote to pass a bill that amends campaign finance and lobbying laws.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes a lobbyist to personally make a campaign contribution to a partisan elective state official, a candidate for national, state, local office, or the official’s or candidate’s personal campaign committee between the first day authorized by law for the circulation of nomination papers as a candidate and the day of the general election or special election (Sec. 23).
  • Increases the threshold for filing a campaign contribution registration statement by the following amounts (Secs. 5-7):
    • From $25 to $500 for a committee that is not a personal campaign committee;
    • From $25 to $1,000 for an individual; and
    • From $750 to $2,500 for a group. 
  • Requires the treasurer of a committee or an individual receiving a contribution of $500 or more to inform the appropriate filing officer within 48 hours of receipt if the contribution is received later than 15 days prior to a primary or election and if the contribution is not included in the preprimary or preelection reports (Sec. 13).
