Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that amends fireworks laws.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes the use of “permissible consumer fireworks” in Arizona between the following dates each year (Sec. 3):
    • The 24th of December and the 3rd of January; and
    • The 24th of June and the 6th of July. 
  • Authorizes the sale of “permissible consumer fireworks” in Arizona between the following dates each year (Sec. 3):
    • The 10th of December and the 3rd of January; and 
    • The 20th of May and the 6th of July.
  • Defines “permissible consumer fireworks” as certain consumer fireworks including, but not limited to, the following types (Sec. 1):
    • A multiple tube ground and handheld sparkling device;
    • A cylindrical fountain;
    • A cone fountain; and
    • An illuminating torch.
  • Prohibits the use of fireworks that are designed or intended to detonate in the air or fly above the ground (Sec. 1). 
  • Authorizes counties with a population of less than 500,000 to regulate the use and sale of fireworks when a federal or state agency implements a stage 1 fire restriction (Sec. 3).
  • Authorizes counties with a population of greater than 500,000 to regulate the use and sale of fireworks within corporate limits and unincorporated areas of the county (Sec. 3). 
  • Classifies a violation of the provisions of this bill as a civil penalty, punishable by a fine of at least $1000 (Sec. 4).
