Vote to pass a bill that requires certain agencies to consider climate change for projects, effective 180 days after passage.

Highlights:

• Requires certain agencies and applicants for state projects to demonstrate consideration of the future physical climate risks based on data predicting the likelihood of future extreme weather events like sea level rise, storm surges, and flooding including, but not limited to, the following agencies (Secs. 6 & 7):
• The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation;
• The New York Department of Transportation;
• The New York State Thruway Authority; and
• The Dormitory Authority of the State of New York.

• Requires the New York Department of State to prepare and make local laws available to municipalities that include consideration of future physical climate risk due to sea level rise and storm flooding, based on available data which predicts the likelihood of future events (Sec. 14).
