Title: Authorizes Early Voting

Vote to repass a joint resolution, after having concurred with Senate amendments thereto, that submits a constitutional amendment to the voters authorizing voting in advance of the day of the general election.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes “qualified” voters to cast a vote in advance of the day of the general election under the following circumstances (Sec. A):
    • The “qualified” voter casts his or her vote in person or by mail during the 6 business days, immediately prior to and including the last Wednesday prior to the election day;  and
    • The “qualified” voter is registered to vote on or before the fourth Wednesday prior to the day of the election.
  • Prohibits ballots from being cast on Saturday and Sunday within the 6 business days prior to the election day (Sec. A).
  • Requires in person ballots to be cast at the local election authority during its regular business hours (Sec. A).
  • Requires each local election authority to appoint at least 1 election judge from each major political party to serve at the site of the local election authority (Sec. A).
  • Specifies that if any provision of this bill is held invalid, the remaining portions of the bill are severable and not impacted (Sec. A).
