Title: Prohibits Certain Employer Discrimination

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits certain employer discrimination, effective January 1, 2015.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits an employer from discharging or discriminating against an employee who performs the following actions (Sec. 3):
    • The employee inquires about or discusses his or her wages, or those of another employee; or 
    • The employee makes a charge or files a complaint related to paycheck equity.
  • Authorizes a 3 year time period in which unpaid wages for paycheck equity violations may be recovered (Sec. 8).
  • Classifies a violation of the provisions of this bill as a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine up to $2,500 (Sec. 4).
