Title: Authorizes Early Voting

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes early voting in the State of New York.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes registered and eligible voters to early vote for any public or party office beginning the third Thursday prior to any general election, and the second Thursday prior to any primary or special election (Sec. 6). 
  • Requires the New York Board of Elections to set up at least 5 polling sites, including the Board itself, in each county or borough in the city of New York (Sec. 6). 
  • Requires all polls to be open for early voting at the following times (Sec. 6):  
    • From 8 o’clock in the morning until 8 o’clock in the evening every weekday; and
    • From 9 o’clock in the morning until 5 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturdays and Sundays.  
  • Requires the Board to create the necessary rules and regulations to ensure an efficient and fair early voting process (Sec. 10).
