Highlights:
Requires a local school district to include “medically-accurate” information in their comprehensive health education programs for students in kindergarten through the 12th grade (Secs. 2-3).
Defines “medically-accurate” information as information supported by peer-reviewed research that complies with accepted scientific methods, published in a public health publication or by a medical, scientific, psychological, sociological, government or public health organization (Sec. 1).
Requires a local school district to post on their website the title and publisher of all health education materials they have approved, adopted, and used in the classroom (Sec. 4).
Requires the Department of Education to withhold 1 percent of funding allocated to a local school district if the local school district fails to file an annual report that considers the comprehensive health education programs (Sec. 4).
