Vote to pass a bill that authorizes in-state tuition for certain students, effective July 1, 2014.

Highlights:
  • Requires a student identified as a “Tennessee resident” to be charged in-state tuition (Secs. 1-2).   
  • Defines “Tennessee resident” as an individual who is a US citizen, has lived in Tennessee at least 1 year prior to admission, and who has graduated from a Tennessee public or private secondary school or earned his or her Tennessee High School Equivalency Diploma (Secs. 1-2).   
  • Requires that this act apply to the academic year 2014-2015 and all years following (Sec. 3).
