Title: Authorizes Individuals with Epilepsy to Use Oil Derived from Marijuana

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the use of medical marijuana for certain illnesses.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes an individual or individual’s parents, legal guardians, or other caretakers to possess cannabidiol if the individual has received a written certification from a licensed physician that he or she is diagnosed with the following (Sec. 1):
    • Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome;
    • Dravet Syndrome; or
    • Any other severe form of epilepsy that is not adequately treated by traditional medical therapies.
  • Exempts a physician who provides written certification for the medical use of cannabidiol to an authorized patient from detrimental action, including, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 1):
    • Arrest;
    • Prosecution; or
    • Penalty.
