Title: Prohibits Development of Certain Wind Energy Facilities

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the development of any new wind energy facilities east of Interstate Highway 35 until January 1, 2017, effective immediately.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits any new development, construction, or installation of any wind energy facility in any area that meets the following criteria, until January 1, 2017 (Sec. 1):
    • The area is located east of United States Interstate Highway 35; and
    • The area is identified as an area with an annual wind power estimate rated less than “Fair” on the United States Department of Energy National Renewable Energy Laboratory map.
  • Exempts wind energy facilities that have commenced construction as of January 1, 2014 from the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1).
