Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the Department of Health and Social Services from using funds for an abortion when an individual is covered by Medicaid.

Highlights:

• Prohibits the Department of Health and Social Services from using funds for an abortion when the individual who undergoes the abortion is covered by Medicaid except under the following circumstances (Sec. 2.):
• The pregnancy resulted from rape or incest; or
• The physician deemed a “medically necessary abortion” that must be performed to avoid serious risk to the life or physician health of a woman.

• Establishes a program to provide family planning services, health screenings, and related services for eligible individuals covered by Medicaid (Sec. 1).
