Title: Prohibits Recording of Agricultural Operations

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits an individual from recording agricultural operations under certain conditions.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits an individual from recording an image or sound of an “agricultural operation” without the consent of the owner under the following conditions (Sec. 3):
    • The individual obtains the recording through misrepresentation or fraud by applying for employment at an operation and knows that recording is prohibited;
    • The individual obtains the recording under the pretense of being a customer, patron, or consumer of the livestock, poultry, livestock products, or poultry products on the premises; or
    • The individual obtains the recording by trespassing on the operation.
  • Defines “agricultural operation” as private property used for the production, processing, marketing, or commerce of livestock, poultry, livestock products, or poultry products (Sec. 3).
  • Classifies agricultural operation interference as described by the provisions of this bill as a Class B misdemeanor (Sec. 3).
  • Prohibits the use of a carbon monoxide gas chamber, carbon dioxide gas chamber, or decompression chamber on an animal in an animal shelter (Secs. 1 & 2).
