Vote to adopt an amendment to HB 212 that exempts a same-sex partner of military member from certain driver's license requirements.

Highlights:

• Exempts a same-sex partner of a military member from state driver’s license requirements, provided that the individual has a driver’s license in another location of permanent residence.

• Requires a same-sex partner to submit an application to claim the exemption.

• Requires the application to include 1 affidavit from the same-sex partner and 1 affidavit from the military member specifically stating certain information including, but not limited to, the following:
• That both individuals have been in an exclusive, committed, and intimate relationship for at least 12 consecutive months;
• That both individuals are each other’s sole domestic partner and each is responsible for the welfare of the other; and
• That both individuals share financial obligations, including joint responsibilities for basic living expenses and health care costs.
