Title: Increases Teacher Salaries

  • Establishes the salary for a teacher who has less than 5 years of teaching experience as follows (Sec. 1):
    • For the 2014-2015 school year:
      • $36,020 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
      • $34,990 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
      • $33,960 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
      • $31,900 for teacher with an A certificate.
    • For the 2015-2016 school year:
      • $36,520 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
      • $35,490 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
      • $34,460 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
      • $32,400 for teacher with an A certificate.
    • For the 2016-2017 school year:
      • $37,870 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
      • $36,840 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
      • $35,810 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
      • $33,750 for teacher with an A certificate.
    • For the 2017-2018 school year:
      • $39,270 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
      • $38,240 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
      • $37,210 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
      • $35,150 for teacher with an A certificate.
  • Establishes salaries for certain teachers who have not achieved at least 3 “benchmarks” for the 2014-2015 school year as follows (Sec. 1):
    • For a teacher with more than 5 years of teaching experience but less than 25 years of teaching experience:
      • $35,020 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
      • $33,990 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
      • $32,960 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
      • $30,900 for teacher with an A certificate.
    • For teachers with 25 or more years of teaching experience:
      • $37,080 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
      • $36,050 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
      • $35,020 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
      • $32,960 for teacher with an A certificate.
  • Defines “benchmarks” as certain activities that include, but are not limited to, the following activities (Sec. 1):
    • Attaining national board certification as verified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards or enrolling in the process for such certification;
    • Volunteering for school-sponsored extracurricular activities or testing activities;
    • Teaching advanced placement courses; or
    • Being absent no more than 5 days per contract year.
  • Establishes the salaries for certain teachers who have achieved at least 3 benchmarks as follows (Sec. 1):
    • For the 2014-2015 school year:
      • For a teacher with more than 5 years of teaching experience but less than 25 years of teaching experience:
        • $36,020 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
        • $34,990 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
        • $33,960 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
        • $31,900 for teacher with an A certificate.
      • For teachers with 25 or more years of teaching experience:
        • $38,080 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
        • $37,050 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
        • $36,020 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
        • $33,960 for teacher with an A certificate.
    • For the 2015-2016 school year:
      • For a teacher with more than 5 years of teaching experience but less than 25 years of teaching experience:
        • $36,520 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
        • $35,490 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
        • $34,460 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
        • $32,400 for teacher with an A certificate.
      • For teachers with 25 or more years of teaching experience:
        • $38,580 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
        • $37,550 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
        • $36,520 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
        • $34,460 for teacher with an A certificate.
    • For the 2016-2017 school year if the general fund revenue estimate for  the 2017 fiscal year is at least 3 percent more than final general fund revenue estimate for the prior fiscal year:
      • For a teacher with more than 5 years of teaching experience but less than 25 years of teaching experience:
        • $37,870 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
        • $36,840 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
        • $35,810 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
        • $33,750 for teacher with an A certificate.
      • For teachers with 25 or more years of teaching experience:
        • $39,930 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
        • $38,900 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
        • $37,870 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
        • $35,810 for teacher with an A certificate.
    • For the 2017-2018 school year if the general fund revenue estimate for  the 2018 fiscal year is at least 3 percent more than final general fund revenue estimate for the prior fiscal year:
      • For a teacher with more than 5 years of teaching experience but less than 25 years of teaching experience:
        • $39,270 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
        • $38,240 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
        • $37,210 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
        • $35,150 for teacher with an A certificate.
      • For teachers with 25 or more years of teaching experience:
        • $41,330 for teacher with an AAAA certificate;
        • $40,300 for teacher with an AAA certificate;
        • $39,270 for teacher with an AA certificate; and
        • $37,210 for teacher with an A certificate.
