Vote to pass a bill that prohibits a city from enacting an ordinance that prevents an individual from carrying a handgun in a public park.

Highlights:

• Prohibits the governing body of a city, county, or metropolitan government from establishing an ordinance that prohibits an individual from possessing, carrying, or storing a handgun or ammunition in the following areas (Sec. 1):
• A public park;
• A playground;
• A civic center; or 
• A public building or property used for recreational purposes. 

• Repeals the requirement that the chief administrator of a public property display a sign that states the maximum penalty for carrying a gun on public recreational property (Sec. 2).
