Title: Prohibits Employees from Being Required to Join a Labor Union

Highlights:

  • Prohibits an individual from being required or compelled to do any of the following as a condition of employment (Sec. 2): 
    • Joining or remaining in a labor organization;
    • Refraining from joining a labor organization; or
    • Pay any dues to a labor organization. 
  • Prohibits an employer from deducting from the wages, earnings, or compensation of an employee to pay for any dues, fees, or assessments of a labor organization (Sec. 2).
  • Prohibits any agreement between any labor organization and employer that infinges upon an employee's ability to choose to join a labor organization (Sec. 2).
  • Prohibits “coercion or intimidation” by an individual or labor organization which infringes upon the employee’s ability to join a labor organization (Sec. 2).
  • Specifies that the provisions of this bill affect only contracts which are created or renewed after the passage of this bill, and any renewals to or extensions of existing contracts (Sec. 2).
  • Specifies that the remaining provisions remain applicable if any provisions of this bill are held invalid (Sec. 2).
