Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that establishes the Measurement of Academic Performance and Progress education assessment program.

Highlights:

• Establishes the Measurement of Academic Performance and Progress (MAPP) to replace the Standardized Testing and Reporting Program (STAR), starting in the 2013-2014 school year (Sec. 15).

• Requires the MAPP to be composed of the following assessments (Sec. 15):
• An assessment in English language arts and mathematics for grades 3-8, and 11 that measures content standards adopted by the State Board of Education; and
• An assessment in science for grades 5, 8, and 10 that measures content standards adopted by the State Board of Education, until a successor assessment is implemented.

• Requires the state to administer assessments through technological means “whenever feasible” (Sec. 4).

• Requires the assessments in English language arts and mathematics to be field tests during the 2013-2014 school year (Sec. 15).
