Vote to pass a bill that repeals the campaign contribution limit for a corporation and establishes a penalty for a violation of the campaign filing requirements.

Highlights:

• Repeals the maximum contribution amount a corporation can contribute to an individual candidate, political action committee, or political party (Sec. 3).

• Prohibits a political action committee from transferring funds to another political action committee or political organization (Sec. 2).

• Prohibits a utility that is regulated by the public service commission from contributing to any candidate for the Public Service Commission (Sec. 2).   

• Classifies an intentional violation of The Fair Campaign Practices Act as a Class A misdemeanor (Sec. 2).   

• Establishes the following penalties for a failure to timely or accurately file any report required by the provisions of this bill (Sec. 2):
• $300 or 10 percent of the amount not properly reported, whichever amount is greater, for the first offense;
• $600 or 15 percent of the amount not properly reported, whichever amount is greater, for the second offense; or
• $1,200 or 20 percent of the amount not properly reported, whichever amount is greater, for the third or any subsequent offense.
