Vote to pass a bill that requires certain school district campuses to participate in a free breakfast program, effective September 1, 2013.

Highlights:

• Requires a school district campus or open-enrollment charter school participating in the national school breakfast program to offer a free breakfast to each student if 80 percent or more of the students qualify for a free or reduced-priced breakfast (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes a school district campus to request a waiver of the free breakfast requirements for a maximum of 1 year and requires the waiver to be renewed by the school district board of trustees each year (Sec. 1).
