Title: Requires Hospitals to Release Procedure Pricing Information

Highlights:

  • Requires health care providers make available, online or upon request, an annual list of the “direct pay price” for at least 25 of their most commonly provided services (Sec. 1).
  • Defines “direct pay price” as the price that will be charged by a healthcare provider for a lawful healthcare service, regardless of the health insurance status of the individual who is receiving the treatment (Sec. 1)
  • Requires a health care facility with more than 50 inpatient beds to make available, online or upon request, the direct pay price for at least the 50 most used diagnosis-related group codes (Sec. 2). 
  • Requires a health care facility with 50 or fewer inpatient beds to make available, online or upon request, the direct pay price for at least the 35 most used diagnosis-related group codes (Sec. 2).
  • Exempts the following types of health care facilities from the provisions of this bill (Secs. 1 & 2):
    • The health facilities on military bases or for veterans;
    • The Native American health service facilities; and
    • The Arizona State Hospital. 
  • Specifies that a health care facility’s license to deliver health care services cannot be revoked as a penalty for non-compliance with the provisions of this bill (Secs. 1 & 2).
