Vote to pass a bill that exempts certain collectives and cooperatives from prosecution or punishment under California law.

Highlights:

• Exempts “collectives and cooperatives” that receive compensation for actual expenses incurred in carrying out certain activities regarding medical marijuana regulation, including reasonable compensation for services, from prosecution or punishment under California law (Sec. 1). 

• Defines “collectives and cooperatives” as any collectives or cooperatives that operate under the following conditions (Sec. 1):
• Those that operate within the terms of the Compassionate Fair Use Act of 1996; 
• Those that comply with the “Guidelines for the Security and Non-Diversion of Marijuana Grown for Medical Use” as issued by the Attorney General; and 
• Those that are listed in the provisions of this bill.

• Authorizes a collective to be organized as any statutory business entity permitted under California law (Sec. 1).
