Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that expands certain labor laws for domestic workers.

Highlights:

• Prohibits a domestic work employee from working for more than 9 hours during any work day or more than 45 hours during any work week, unless the employee receives 1.5 times the regular rate of pay for any additional hours worked (Sec. 1). 

• Defines “domestic work employee” as an individual who performs domestic work, including live-in domestic work employees and personal attendants (Sec. 1).

• Defines “personal attendant” as an individual employed by a private householder or by any third-party employer recognized in the health care industry to work in a private household, to supervise and assist any individual in need of the service (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the domestic work employee definition does not apply to certain individuals including, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 1):
• An individual who performs services through the In-Home Supportive Services program;
• An individual who is related to the domestic work employer; 
• An individual who is under the age of 18 and is employed as a babysitter; and
• An individual who is employed as a casual babysitter for a minor. 

• Defines “domestic work” as services related to the care of individuals in private households or maintenance of private households on the premises including, but not limited to, work that is characteristic of the following occupations (Sec. 1):
• A childcare provider;
• A caregiver of individuals who are disabled, sick, recovering, or elderly; or
• A housekeeper.
