Title: Authorizes Certain Children to Consent to Immunizations

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes certain individuals under the age of 14 to consent to immunization.

Highlights:
  • Authorizes a child to consent to his or her own immunization under the following conditions (Sec. 1):
    • The child is at least 14 years old and is committed to the Texas Juvenile Justice Department;
    • The health care provider has a valid consent form completed by a parent, managing conservator, or guardian on file; and
    • The health care provider administrating the immunization has made a “reasonable” attempt to contact the person who completed the consent form and was unable to contact that person.
  • Rep. Todd Ames Hunter is not listed in the vote breakdown because when the vote was taken he was in house but away from his desk. His vote intention would have been ‘Yea’.
  • Rep. Jason Isaac is not listed on the vote breakdown because his vote does not accurately reflect his intention; he initially voted 'Yea' and changed his vote to 'Nay' after the roll call.
  • Rep. Stephanie Klick is not listed in the vote breakdown because their vote failed to register. Her vote intention would have been ‘Nay’.
