Title: Amends Campaign Finance Limits

  • Repeals any aggregate limit on the total amount a candidate can receive from individuals or political committees (Sec. 2).
  • Increases the amount a political committee can contribute to a candidate running in an election other than for a statewide office from 2,000 to 5,000 (Sec. 2).
  • Specifies that the above limit applies only to political committees certified by the Secretary of State as having received money from 500 or more individuals in amounts of $10 or more (Sec. 2).  
  • Increases the amount a non-certified political committee can contribute to a candidate running in an election other than for a statewide office in the following amounts (Sec. 2):
    • From $488 to $2,500 for a legislative office; and
    • From $390 to $2,500 for an election other than for a legislative office.
  • Increases the amount an individual can contribute to a candidate running in an election other than for a statewide office in the following amounts (Sec. 2):
    • From $488 to $2,500 for a legislative office; and
    • From $390 to $2,500 for an election other than for a legislative office.
  • Increases the amount a contributor can give to a candidate running in an election for a statewide office in the following amounts (Sec. 2):
    • From $1,010 to $2,500 from an individual; and
    • From $1,010 to $2,500 from a non-certified political committee.
  • Exempts contributions from political parties from the new contribution limits in this bill (Sec. 2).
