Title: Appropriates Funds to the Armed Prohibited Persons System
Vote Smart's Synopsis:
Vote to pass a bill that appropriates funds to the Armed Prohibited Persons System.
Appropriates $24 million to the Department of Justice from the Dealers’ Record of Sale Special Account to complete pending cases in the Armed Prohibited Persons System (APPS) (Sec. 2).
Requires the Department of Justice to report to the Joint Legislative Budget Committee by March 1 each year, beginning in 2015, information that includes, but is not limited to, the following (Sec. 2):
Information on how the APPS backlog has been reduced;
Information on the number of agents hired for APPS enforcement;
Information on the number of firearms recovered from APPS enforcement; and
Information on the number of people cleared from or added to the APPS database.
NOTE: A BILL WITH AN URGENCY CLAUSE REQUIRES A TWO-THIRDS VOTE OF EACH CHAMBER OF THE LEGISLATURE FOR THE CLAUSE TO PASS. IF PASSED, THE BILL GOES INTO EFFECT IMMEDIATELY UPON ENACTMENT.
