Vote to pass a bill that requires a parent to provide government-issued identification in order to provide consent before a minor receives an abortion, effective November 1, 2013.

Highlights:

• Requires the parent of an abortion patient, who is a minor, to provide a copy of a government-issued identification and written documentation proving that he or she is the lawful parent of the abortion patient prior to giving consent to the abortion (Sec. 1).

• Limits the jurisdiction for a judicial abortion waiver to the district court in the county in which the minor abortion patient lives, whereas existing law authorizes “a court of competent jurisdiction” (Secs. 1 & 3).
