Title: Amends Prince George's County School System Laws

Vote to pass a bill that amends the management of the Prince George County Board of Education.

Highlights:

  • Increases the members of the Prince George County Board of Education from 10 individuals to 14 individuals as follows (Sec. 1):
    • 3 additional members appointed by the Prince George County Executive; and
    • 1 additional member appointed by the Prince George County Council.
  • Requires the County Executive to appoint the chair and vice chair of the County Board (Sec. 1).
  • Requires the vice chair to be an elected member of the County Board (Sec. 1).
  • Requires the County Executive to select a Chief Executive Officer from a list provided by the search committee which consists of the following individuals (Sec. 1):
    • 1 member of the State Board that is appointed by the State Superintendent; and
    • 2 individuals who reside in Prince George County that are appointed by the governor.
  • Requires a two-thirds vote by all voting members of the Prince George County Board of Education to appeal an action of the Chief Executive Officer (Sec. 1).
