Vote to pass a bill that amends the management of the Prince George County Board of Education.
Highlights:
- Increases the members of the Prince George County Board of Education from 10 individuals to 14 individuals as follows (Sec. 1):
- 3 additional members appointed by the Prince George County Executive; and
- 1 additional member appointed by the Prince George County Council.
- Requires the County Executive to appoint the chair and vice chair of the County Board (Sec. 1).
- Requires the vice chair to be an elected member of the County Board (Sec. 1).
- Requires the County Executive to select a Chief Executive Officer from a list provided by the search committee which consists of the following individuals (Sec. 1):
- 1 member of the State Board that is appointed by the State Superintendent; and
- 2 individuals who reside in Prince George County that are appointed by the governor.
- Requires a two-thirds vote by all voting members of the Prince George County Board of Education to appeal an action of the Chief Executive Officer (Sec. 1).
