Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the removal of a communication device from a peace officer.

Highlights:

• Prohibits an individual from removing or attempting to remove a peace officer’s communication device when the officer is acting within the scope of duty and the individual knew or should have known the individual was an officer (Sec. 2). 

• Classifies the removal or attempted removal of an officer’s communication device as a simple misdemeanor (Sec. 2).

• Classifies a violation under the provisions of this bill which results in a bodily injury to the officer as a serious misdemeanor (Sec. 2).

• Classifies a violation under the provisions of this bill which results in a serious injury to the officer as an aggravated misdemeanor (Sec. 2).

• Classifies a violation under the provisions of this bill in which the individual knowingly or intentionally causes bodily injury to the officer as an aggravated misdemeanor (Sec. 2).

• Classifies a violation under the provisions of this bill in which the individual knowingly or intentionally causes serious injury to the officer as a class “D” felony (Sec. 2).
