Title: Repeals License Requirement to Carry a Firearm

Vote on a motion to declare a bill inexpedient to legislate that authorizes an individual to carry or transport a loaded firearm without a license.

Highlights:
  • Specifies that the availability of a license to carry a loaded pistol or revolver does not prohibit the unlicensed transport or carry of a loaded or unloaded firearm in a vehicle or by an individual if the individual is not prohibited by law from possessing a firearm (Sec. 1).
  • Increases the length of time a license to carry a firearm is valid from 4 to 5 years (Sec. 1).
  • Reduces the nonresident fee for a license to carry a firearm from $100 to $20 (Sec. 1).
  • Authorizes an unlicensed individual who is not in the business of selling firearms to sell a firearm to an individual with a license to carry a firearm, a resident of the state who is authorized to own firearms, or an individual personally known to him or her (Sec. 3).
