Vote to pass a bill that amends driver's license requirements for undocumented individuals, effective January 1, 2014.

Highlights:

• Repeals the provision that prohibited the issuance or renewal of ID cards and driver’s licenses after July 1, 2015, to individuals that do not provide documentary evidence of lawful status or a valid social security number (Sec. 1).

• Repeals the provision that required certain ID cards and driver’s licenses that were issued to individuals that did not provide documentary evidence of lawful status or a valid social security number to expire by July 1, 2015 (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes the State of Maryland to issue or renew certain ID cards or driver’s licenses to an applicant without evidence of lawful status or a valid social security number if the applicant provides documentary evidence that the applicant (Sec. 1):
• Filed a Maryland income tax return for the preceding 2 years; or
• Resided in Maryland and was claimed as a dependent by an individual who filed a Maryland income tax return.

• Prohibits certain ID cards or driver’s licenses that have been obtained without proof of lawful status from being used to purchase firearms (Sec. 1).
