Vote to pass a bill that reduces penalties for the possession of up to 8 ounces of marijuana, effective July 1, 2013.

Highlights:

• Classifies the possession of 1 ounce or less of marijuana as a civil penalty with a fine of $50, and any subsequent offense as a petty misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $100 (Sec. 1).

• Classifies the possession of more than 1 and up to 4 ounces of marijuana as a civil penalty with a fine $100, and any subsequent offense as a petty misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $200 (Sec. 1).

• Classifies the possession of more than 4 and up to 8 ounces of marijuana as a misdemeanor with a fine of up to $300 (Sec. 1).

• Classifies the possession of more than 8 ounces of marijuana as a 4th degree felony (Sec. 1).
