Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the issuance of permits for certain types of natural gas extraction until May 15, 2015.

Highlights:

• Establishes a suspension of the issuance of permits for natural gas extraction through the drilling of a well in low permeability natural gas pools until May 15, 2015 (Secs. 1 & 3).

• Requires a school of public health within the State University of New York to conduct a health impact assessment of the potential health effects caused by the extraction of natural gas using horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing and to make the report available for public review and comment (Sec. 2).

• Requires the health impact assessment to be completed by April 15, 2015 (Sec. 3).
