Vote to pass a bill that exempts sales tax on energy for agricultural, manufacturing, and fishing businesses, effective July 1, 2013.
Highlights:
- Exempts a sales tax for electricity, current, power, steam, coal, natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas or other fuel for the following groups (Sec. 1):
- Manufacturers, custom processors, and technology intensive enterprises;
- Public service companies that generate electricity;
- Public service companies that operate electrical distribution systems, pipeline compressors, pumping stations, or railroad locomotives;
- Producers of poultry, domesticated fish, milk, livestock feed, and irrigation of farm crops; and
- Commercial fishermen, shrimpers, or oystermen.
