Vote to adopt an amendment to SB 63 that prohibits the secretary of state from establishing a Political Action Committee (PAC) for another candidate.

Highlights:

• Prohibits the secretary of state from establishing a political committee (Sec. 1).

• Defines “political committee” as a committee with the major purpose of making contributions or expenditures or expressly advocating the nomination, election or defeat of a clearly identified candidate for office (Sec. 1).

• Exempts the following from the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1):
• A political committee established to advocate for the election of a candidate for secretary of state; or
• A political committee established to make contributions or expenditures for the election of a candidate for secretary of state.

• Specifies that all current political committees violating the provisions of this bill are abolished (Sec. 1).
