Highlights:

• Prohibits an individual who is less than 18 years of age from using a cell phone to communicate with another individual while operating a motor vehicle (Sec. 1).

• Exempts individuals in the following circumstances (Sec. 1):
• During a medical emergency;
• When reporting a safety hazard;
• When reporting criminal activity; or
• When communicating with a parent or legal guardian.

• Classifies a violation of this bill as an infraction with a fine of up to $25 (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits the Driver License Division from assessing points against the driving records of individuals in violation of this bill (Sec. 1).
