Vote to pass a bill that prohibits abortions after 20 weeks of a pregnancy.
Highlights:
Prohibits a physician from performing or inducing an abortion if the physician has determined that the probable post-fertilization age of the fetus is 20 weeks or more, except in the case of a medical emergency (Sec. 3).
Defines “probable post-fertilization age” as the estimated age of the fetus at the time the abortion is planned to be performed or induced, to be determined by a physician using all medical examinations and tests reasonably required (Sec. 2).
Prohibits a physician from performing an abortion if the probable post-fertilization age of the fetus has not been determined, except in the case of a medical emergency (Sec. 3).
Requires all hospitals that perform abortions and abortion facilities maintain patient medical records, including the post-fertilization age of the fetus or the reason for determining a medical emergency, for a minimum of 7 years (Sec. 4).
