Highlights:

• Prohibits a physician from performing an abortion if the physician has prior knowledge that the patient is seeking the abortion solely because of (Sec. 2):
• The gender of the fetus; or
• The diagnosis of, or the potential for, a genetic abnormality of the fetus.

• Defines “genetic abnormality” as any physical or mental defect, disease, or disorder that is genetically inherited including, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 1):
• Physical disfigurement;
• Scoliosis;
• Down syndrome; or
• Amelia.

• Classifies a violation of the provisions of this bill by a physician as a class A misdemeanor (Sec. 2).
