Title: Authorizes Public Schools to Offer Elective Bible Study Classes

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes school districts to offer elective credit courses in biblical studies, effective July 1, 2013.
Authorizes school districts to offer religiously neutral elective credit courses on the Bible to students beginning in grade 9 which may include, but are not limited to, the following information (Sec. 1):
The contents, history and literary style of the Old and New Testaments; and
The Bible’s influence on laws, history, literature, and government.
Prohibits a student from being required to use a specific translation as the sole text for the course (Sec. 1).
