Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that that prohibits certain permit holders from using wireless communication devices while operating a motor vehicle on a public highway.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits an individual with an instruction permit or restricted minor’s permit from using any wireless communication device while operating a motor vehicle (Secs. 2 & 3). 
  • Defines “wireless communication device” as any device that provides for voice or data communication including, but not limited to (Sec. 1):
    • A mobile or cellular telephone;
    • A text messaging device;
    • A personal digital assistant that sends or receives messages;

    • A laptop computer.
