Vote to pass a bill that authorizes issuing temporary visitor's driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants, effective 10 months after passage and approval.

Highlights:

• Authorizes the Secretary of State to issue a temporary visitor’s driver’s license to an individual who meets the following criteria (Sec. 10):
• The individual has lived in Illinois for at least 1 year;
• The individual is ineligible to obtain a social security number; and
• The individual is unable to provide proof that he or she is lawfully present in the United States.

• Prohibits a temporary driver’s license from being used as proof of the license holder’s identity (Sec. 10).

• Requires a notice to be printed on the face of the temporary visitor’s driver’s license specifying that the license is not acceptable proof of identity (Sec. 10).

• Requires the individual applying for a temporary visitor’s driver’s license to present a valid, unexpired passport or identification document issued by a consulate of the individual’s country of citizenship (Sec. 10).
