Vote to pass a bill that requires the publication of abortion reports and requires physicians who perform abortions to have hospital privileges, effective July 1, 2012.

Highlights:
  • Requires the State Department of Health to publish a report containing data about each abortion procedure performed in the state (Sec. 3).
  • Requires the data in the report to include, but not be limited to, the following information (Sec. 3):
    • The name of the physician who performed the procedure;
    • The location where the procedure was performed;
    • The following information about the woman upon whom the abortion was performed:
      • Age;
      • Race;
      • Marital status;
      • State and county of residence;
      • Number of prior pregnancies; and
      • Number of prior abortions.
    • The gestational age of the fetus;
    • The type of procedure used by the physician; and
    • The date of the abortion.
  • Prohibits the report from including the name of the abortion patient (Sec. 3).
  • Requires a physician who performs an abortion to have hospital privileges in the county in which the abortion is performed or in an adjacent county (Sec. 2).
