Title: Expands Gambling
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that expands gambling and authorizes the establishment of 5 new casinos.
- Authorizes the establishment of 5 new casinos in the following places (Art. 90, Sec. 40):
- 1 casino gambling license in the City of Chicago;
- 1 riverboat gambling license in the City of Danville;
- 1 riverboat gambling license in the City of Rockford;
- 1 riverboat gambling license in the City of Park City; and
- 1 riverboat gambling license in a municipality of Cook County.
- Authorizes electronic gambling games, including slot machines, at horse-racing tracks (Art. 90, Secs. 35 & 40).
- Establishes a $100,000 fee for the issuance or renewal of an electronic gambling license that authorizes electronic gambling for a 4 year period (Art. 90, Sec. 40).
- Establishes an initial fee of $12,500 per electronic gambling device except in Cook County where the initial fee is $25,000 per electronic gambling device (Art. 90, Sec. 40).
- Increases the number of authorized gambling devices a gambling licensee may have from 1,200 to 1,600 (Art. 90, Sec. 40).
- Requires gambling licensees that already operate a gambling facility to reserve with the Gaming Board up to 1,600 gambling stations, including gaming stations they already operate, within 90 days of the effective date of this bill and specifies that unreserved gambling stations will be forfeited (Art. 90, Sec. 40).
- Authorizes the gambling licensee in the City of Chicago to have up to 4,000 gaming stations (Art. 90, Sec. 40).
- Prohibits casino gambling at airports (Art. 1, Secs. 31 & 67).
- Establishes a $3 tax per individual admitted per “gaming day” into an electronic gambling facility that must be paid by the licensee (Art. 90, Sec. 40).
